FVLC fitness classes and the popular aqua aerobics classes will be back up and running late July when restrictions around group indoor training ease. Below outlines the type of classes you will expect to see at FVLC. Keep an eye on our social media and website for times and class timetable. We run a strict payment to secure your place in the classes we offer. Class passes are also available.

The classes we offer cater for all fitness levels and abilities, our great instructors can provide progressions and regressions to every exercise to ensure you get a workout best suited to YOU! We can’t wait to have you back in to our group fitness sessions.

✱ Intensive swim lessons are a popular seasonal week for children’s Learn to Swim programme, this week consists of Monday to Friday inclusive 45-minute swim classes. All children receive a progression certificate on final day of lesson. A great interactive week for children. Our fun swim instructors are all Swim Ireland qualified and teach to the highest of standards.

✱ Aqua playgroups & Toddler Water Confidence, the aim in the classes are for you and your child to relax and have fun while your child is progressing towards learning to swim in a familiar environment. Classes are small and sociable. Suitable from birth to 4 years of age.

✱ Rookie Lifeguard is a fun and safe way to learn lifesaving skills, suitable for children ages 8-12 years with a minimum of 50m swimming ability.

✱ RLSS Survive & Save Programme is a challenging but fun lifesaving programme for teens and adults to further develop their skills through a series of awards.

✱ Masters Swim training is for everyone that can swim! Whether you are training for a triathlon, competition or just want get fit and improve your stroke skills, then Masters at FVLC is for you.

✱ Swim lessons for people with disabilities helps with muscle development and co-ordination. Although swimming is stimulating, it is also very relaxing. At FVLC, all our swim instructors are Swim Ireland qualified.

✱ Adult swim lessons are small group learn to swim programmes for all abilities or come join us to improve your swim skills and and stamina. Lessons are for those with little or no swim ability who want to learn correct swim skills but also for those that can already move through the water but would like to improve breathing, body position, swim skills and endurance.

Class Details

Aqua Aerobics

This energetic class takes place in for 25m pool with shallow and deep end options available. It will involve performing a variety of aerobic exercises with music, typically in waist deep or deeper water depending on swimming ability. Foam aids will be used as resistance training but due to the buoyancy of the water it is low impact and easy on the joints. Suitable for all levels of fitness and all ages.

CardioTone

CardioTone combines light resistance training with a complete cardiovascular workout. With the use of weights, step blocks and bodyweight exercises, this powerful, fat blasting routine is gentle on the joints and tough on unwanted weight.

Bums, Tums and Legs

As you can probably guess, this 45 minute targeted workout class focuses on your legs, bum and waist areas. These classes consists of high repetitions of body weight and/or light weight exercises, to really burn those calories followed by targeted exercises for the bum, legs and core.

Body Conditioning

Body conditioning classes are a great way to achieve all-round fitness which enables you to see results and look and feel healthier. They assist in improving muscle tone and endurance through a combination of aerobic, resistance and strength exercises, allowing you to tick all the boxes in one single workout.

Spin

A spin class is a high intensity cycling workout that takes pace on a spin bike (a stationary cycling machine with a heavy, weighted flywheel and adjustable resistance). A typical class involves a mixture of short sharp bursts of sprints and hill efforts interspersed with active recovery and longer intervals to improve strength and endurance all help to push your lactic acid threshold, burn calories and build muscle.

HIIT Spin

As per Spin, but designed to be squeezed into a lunch break. This thirty minute class has a higher intensity than the average spin class.

Body Pump

Body pump is the ideal workout for anyone looking to get lean, toned and fit – fast. Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition, BODYPUMP gives you a total body workout. It will burn plenty of calories and this resistance training can build lean muscle fast. Instructors will coach you through a variety of compound moves and techniques pumping out encouragement, motivation and great music helping you achieve much more than on your own! You’ll leave the class feeling challenged and motivated, ready to come back for more.

HIIT

High Intensity Interval Training is a great way to burn calories. This will be a combination of bodyweight and resistance based exercises working in short intense bursts of exercise followed by short, sometimes active recovery periods. This type of class, keeps the heart rate high which is a great way of increase fitness levels and getting a tough conditioning session in a shorted period of time. Full body conditioning which enables you to get results, see and feel healthier.. These classes are suitable for all levels of fitness with progressions and regressions of exercises to cater for all.

Overs 50’s Functional Movement

This class is designed to increase strength and functional movements for the over 50’s. Our qualified coaches will design classes based on full range of movement, carrying out a variety of body weight and resistance exercises to improve overall functional movement making daily tasks easier.

Pilates

Pilates is a form of low-impact exercise that aims to strengthen muscles while improving postural alignment and flexibility. Pilates is specifically defined as exercise for the core or abdominal muscles, it is important that clients know that the core includes the entire trunk, which is the abdominals, the hips, the inner and outer thighs, and the back. Our qualified instructor will ensure you are getting an effective workout based on your fitness levels and promoting correct technique through all movements.

Functional Core + Flex

This class will be working the core muscles around the trunk which consists of our abdominals, lower back, front and back of the legs and the glutes. With a variety of body weight movements and some resistance based exercise. This class will also focus on improving flexibility with a variety of stretching techniques to develop flexibility in the muscles and improve range of movement around joints.
